3-Point Thursday #230
Feb 25, 2021 2:52 pm
Hey,
Good morning to ya from a grey day in East London!
This week's 3-pointer:
🇬🇧 GB Senior Men are EuroBasket bound
What a weekend (+ Monday) as GB took down Germany at the buzzer on Saturday courtesy of Luke Nelson, and then rounded out the window with a big win over France in what was a huge result after the tough loss in their first match up. It felt like there was a real coming together of the UK hoops community to follow the team, and I know I'm not only speaking for myself when I say how hyped I am for EuroBasket 2022!
On a related note, this week on the pod I brought on GB acting Head Coach Marc Steutel, who has steered the team through the qualifiers over the past 12 months. It's not an easy position to be put in but Steutel has taken to it like a duck to water and so it was awesome to get a behind the scenes look at the campaign, and get his reflections/takes on how the past 3 windows has been for the squad.
🏫 BUCS - what are they doing?
Just a final mini-rant about BUCS - the university sports federation. I went on their website yesterday for the first time in a long time just after some pretty basic information about basketball - the teams who compete in the Premier South and North...absolutely nowhere to be found. Everything encourages you to download the app, which I ended up (reluctantly) doing, and even in there, still nothing. Incredible. Another prime example of us being data/information poor sport, no idea how to communicate things, or help our 'users and/or customers' get what they're looking for. I got the answer off people on Twitter in the end, but embarrassing to even have to ask.
That wraps up another week, as always, hit reply with any questions, comments or anything else.
With gratitude,
Sam
