3-Point Thursday #220

Dec 18, 2020 12:48 am

Hey,

Almost forgot about you this week! The winter nights with it getting dark so early are getting to me!

Here it this week's 3-pointer:

🎙 Podcast: Akwasi Yeboah

Akwasi is one of the nicest guys in British basketball so it was an absolute pleasure to have him on the pod this week to look back on his college career and the realities of turning pro during a pandemic. He has taken jumps in his game every year and I have no doubt he will continue to progress through the ranks as his pro careers develops.

🔝 Top 10 Plays are back!

It has been two years since we produced a BBL weekly top 10 plays, and now we've released the first 3 for this season the pressure is on to keep it consistent throughout the year! Check out the top plays from the BBL Cup Group Phase, and then Week 1 and Week 2 of the Championship season. Get subscribed to Hoopsfix on YouTube if you aren't already! Also check out the movers and shakers in the weekly BBL Power Rankings and WBBL Power Rankings.

📺 BBL on Sky

I finally got to check out the presentation/production of the BBL on Sky last week as they broadcast the game free on YouTube as well. What a difference real TV production makes. Aside from too many instant replays and cutting from main broadcast angle during live play too much, it really does improve the look and feel of the game - along with an educated commentary crew. The off-court features; the interviews with players and teams are also crucial to help make the players household names, humanise them and build that relationship with the fans. Check out this nice feature on one of the anchors and Newcastle Eagles guard Drew Lasker from Brad.

That wraps up another drop, as always, hit reply with any comments, questions or anything else.

With gratitude,

Sam

P.S. Congrats to Julius Joseph on his new partnership with BE for Ball Out 3x3 - big move and a wise one on the side of the NGB, Julius has been doing a great job with the tournament for years.
