3-Point Thursday #256
Sep 10, 2021 2:25 am
Hey,
Feel like I'm trying to juggle a zillion balls at the moment, and so publishing cadence has gone down substantially!
And because the publishing has slowed, this week's 3-pointer will cover 3 events I've been to recently:
On the literal opposite side of London to me, I hit up Northolt School last weekend for the Future Stars Summer Series Final Four - they had U14, U16 and U18 competitions which have been running over the summer for teams who missed out on the season. Ran by London United, It was hype, with a ton of people packed on the sidelines, junior ball has been missed!
🎗 GG 3x3
Martin Dyan has been the biggest vocal advocate for 3x3 basketball in the UK over the last couple of years, so it was great to finally get a chance to check out his 3x3 charity tournament he set up in memory of his late friend, George Goldstone. Held at UEL, it was good vibes all day, with a ridiculous dunk contest, and a decent chunk of money raised for Coppa Feel breast cancer charity.
Dayo Okewale - a former teammate of mine at Brunel - has been running his Celebrity Ball Out charity game for a number of years now - starting out at The Regal, in recent times it has gone big time with a move to the Copper Box. Of course, the standard of basketball leaves a lot to be desired, but that's not what it's about! He does a good job bringing in influencers with a following, especially from the London scene, and gets good traction as a result.
That wraps up another drop, as always hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else!
With gratitude,
Sam
