3-Point Thursday #242

May 21, 2021 2:36 am

Hey,

Ever tried organising an event 4 weeks out whilst venues aren't doing event bookings? Neither have I, turns out it gets pretty stressful. We will get there!

This week's 3-pointer:

🎙 Podcast: Jason Swaine

Enjoyed this chat with the legend that is Jason Swaine - another of the most likeable characters in the British game. A lot of great stories, and nice insight - bring back the McDonald's Open!

🏆 NBL D1 Men, BBL & WBBL seasons wrapped

Solent Kestrels did as expected, cruising to the sweep of the season with victory over Hemel, meanwhile Newcastle Eagles pipped London Lions in a thriller to add another title to their historic franchise, whilst London Lions picked up their second piece of silverware this season in the WBBL, ending the Eagles' fairy tale playoff run.

🇬🇧 BBF opts out

It was a real shame to see GB opt out of junior youth competitions this summer, not just for fans/followers but really the players. Does make you think whether we have an entire generation whose development will be affected. The focus will move to 3x3 this summer, as GB will be represented in the FIBA Europe Cup qualifier and the FIBA Under-23 League of Nations largely in prep for the Commonwealth Games.

That wraps up another week, as always, hit reply with any thoughts, questions or anything else.

With gratitude,

Sam

P.S. Check out this week's EABL Summer Showcase top plays, Toibu Lawal can fly!
