VIDEOS & ARTICLES: Eastern Redbud...a native alternative to the Invasive Bradford Pear
Apr 18, 2026 5:19 pm
Greetings,
It's that time of year when you can spot those invasive Bradford Pear trees all around with their early bloom of white flowers. They were a popular choice to line suburban streets, parks, and shopping centers for years.
But, if you looked around a bit more, you may see where they have established themselves nearby in natural areas. This can cause problems for native foliage. We can explain more about that in our articles and videos I'll share below.
When we bought our house, there was a Bradford Pear tree in the landscaping at the front corner of the house. We took it out and replaced it with an Eastern Redbud Joe grew from seed. It's exciting in the Spring now to watch the beautiful bloom it gets. There are so many bees enjoying it! It has now just passed peak bloom as the leaves are starting to push out more.
We hope you will take this opportunity to share our posts today on our Growit Buildit Facebook & Growit Buildit Instagram about this invasive & native tree as a chance to share some education on this topic.
