NEW VIDEO: Shagbark Hickory

Shagbark Hickory is a deciduous hardwood tree native to Eastern North America that grows 90′ tall by 70′ wide in optimum growing conditions of full sun & well drained soil. Prized by both humans and animals, it produces edible nuts in late Summer & hosts dozens of insects. It’s lumber is used for flooring, cabinets, and has a high heating value.

Remembering Steve Stahl:

Steve Stahl was a member of our Gardening With Native Plants Facebook group. Sadly, his battle with ALS recently ended. Joe & I never met Steve, but appreciate his lifelong love of learning and sharing about the beauty and importance of native plants.
