You know that girl,

That every guy likes,

And every girl wants to be like?

When you all walk in a group,

The stares follow her around.

You are popular just by being her friend.

And worse is the fact that,

The girl is probably unassuming.

She is oblivious of all the attention

She commands and has.

You are the one who notices,

The one who wishes you had half

As much as she did.

Sometimes, you try to think

And dream about what it would be like

Being like her for one day.

What if I had her skin?

What if I had her hair?

What ifs…

Contrary to these movie scenes

In our heads,

Reality is so different.

Not just reality,

But the "digital reality".

There is no wishing you were popular,

Or known.

You see,

Attention is the seed for money.

It is get noticed or get broke.

One of my favorite mentors,

Mr. Olufukeji Adegbeye put it to me this way,

Grace, do everything you can do go viral.

Why is this so important?

Viral-ity is the bedrock upon which

All other things would matter.

Until you are known,

Your message won’t be heard.

Until you are known,

You can’t be referred.

Until you are known,

All your competence, skill and knowledge

Are largely useless.

You can’t bless anyone.

Ever wondered why the most proficient people

Don’t get the best jobs?

You see someone who is famous,

And deep down,

You know you can do better

Only if you had half the same opportunity.

You see someone brag about

Little knowledge and a lot of attention

Is given to him,

Yet you know all the “deep” stuff

But your bank account ain’t smiling.

I struggled with this for the longest time.

I wasn’t sure I was the person

Who wanted her business in the open.

I wanted to work so hard in private,

And then magically somehow,

I would get announced and noticed.

But that day never comes.

You have got to put yourself out there.

This is why content creation is indispensable.

It is the tool that gets you noticed.

Play it well,

And everything else just settles.

Imagine I didn’t create Becoming a Money Magnet,

Or I never got on Instagram,

How would you be here?

Who would I send love notes to?

Truth is,

There are a thousand and one people out there,

Waiting for you to learn content creation,

So you can rescue them.

So you can reach them more effectively.

So you can send notes that would uplift them,

Just like this.

You do more harm than good,

To your audience

When you do not go viral.

Influence is no more a bargain.

So just like I was told,

I tell you now,

Do everything you can to go viral.
