Some years ago,

I would be so afraid.

Afraid of voicing out my opinions.

I didn’t trust that my voice was right.

I didn’t trust that my thoughts were noteworthy.

Until I would think up something,

Discard it,

Then, hear a prominent thought leader somewhere

Voice out the same things that were in my heart,

And people would be so taken by it.

It took someone else,

Way up there,

To indirectly validate my thoughts,

Before I started to believe in myself.

I talk about the concept of thinking original thoughts.

The truth is,

Nothing is really new or original.

No information that is,

Is actually new or original.

What makes the difference is us.

How we perceive things,

How we interpret things.

Salem King puts it this way;

We are people with different

Education, Expertise, Experience and Exposure.

No two people can have these things

Exactly the same way.

So our interpretation of issues will differ

As these four things

Shape our minds and ideologies,

In ways that we cannot imagine.

Our interpretation of money,

Love, Friends, Books, Mentors,

Academics, Religion,

Were all largely framed by these four concepts.

And we see them play out

When we have conversations,

And create content.

Nothing might be new under the sun,

But everything is new about you.

And that is why you and I

Can read the same article,

And get entirely different lessons out of it.

Our minds are trained to see and perceive

That which it has been predominantly exposed to.

So you see,

Just in case you need another reason to come out

To discover your unique voice,

To be the best version of you,

Here is a reason to. 

You are different,

And it is NO CLICHE.
