No Future Ambition?

Feb 25, 2021 2:01 pm

I was 10 years old

JS2 to be precise,

When this guy in class

Walked up to me and in my opinion,

"Insulted me" in the worst way possible.

He had tried getting me upset,

And this was like his last card.

He called me a “bastard”

Eh God!

I sobbed so much,

I had to report him to the school authorities.

It felt like my whole world would crash.

He called me a bastard. Like you can imagine?

I was shocked that he wasn’t suspended or something.

Like, that is the height of it all.

I look like my father, and I had lived with my folks

At that time for at least 10 years,

Why would a stranger’s testimony do that to me?

(shaking my head)

Well, that’s not the gist for today.

The only second insult that comes close to this

Was to be called NFA;

No Future Ambition.

This one was called most times by people close to us

When we eat or sleep too much

Or something like that.

This has always been quite touchy for me

So imagine my reaction when someone asks me,

What is your purpose?

For the most part of my life,

I cringe at that question.

And probably get defensive.

And it took quite a while for me to get over it.

Memories flooded me when one of you asked me

During our last Q/A what my purpose was.

If you still fluster when this question meets you abruptly,

I want to help you today.

Purpose isn’t as complex as it is made to sound.

First, realize that purpose is an ever evolving word.

It is about “being” and “doing”

And who you used to be; who you are gets more refined with time.

It has largely influenced what you do currently.

Don’t get quick to label yourself based on what you do.

Think of who you are, and who you want to be.

Then act in that consciousness.

Here’s the final hack!

How do you see the world?

I think the world’s greatest problem is Leadership

And communication is the tool for effective leadership.

You cannot be known, heard or understood

If you cannot communicate.

You cannot influence a person from a point of view

To another,

Until you use the right words.

And this is why at the core of everything I do,

I emphasize content creation.

Through what lens do you view this world?

What are your usual emphasis and pain points?

You just might need to find that out.
