DON'T UNDERESTIMATE YOUR IMPACT

She reminded me of my impact.

You may not always see the results of your efforts. You may encourage someone, teach an important lesson, or offer support, and then hear nothing in return.

That silence can make you question whether your work matters.

However, you must not underestimate your impact.

A Reminder at the Cash Register

Several months ago, I went to a store. When I walked inside, I noticed that the young cashier looked very familiar.

I wasn't sure why she seemed familiar, but I could tell by the way she was looking at me that she recognized me too.

I walked around the store, gathered everything I needed, and went to the cash register.

As she rang up my items, she kept looking down and then back up at me.

Finally, she asked, "Aren't you Mr. Mosley?"

I said, "Yes."

She replied, "I was at the alternative school when you were there. You used to teach us self-discipline lessons. You had a major impact on me and my friends, who were constantly getting into trouble. To this day, I still remember the stories and the lessons. You had such a major impact on my life, and I want to thank you for that."

The surprising part was that, on that very day, I had been questioning myself.

I was wondering whether the good I was doing in the world was making a difference.

Then I found myself standing in front of this young woman, who was telling me that the stories and lessons from my program had made a major impact on her life.

Your Encouragement Matters

In that moment, I realized that you cannot underestimate your impact or the good you are doing in the world.

You may not see the outcome today, but your encouragement may become someone's strength tomorrow.

Your lessons may guide someone through a difficult decision. Your example may inspire someone to choose a better path. You may never know how many people are affected by what you teach, share, and demonstrate.

Do not focus only on appreciation or immediate results, instead focus on encouraging and motivating people. Focus on having the greatest impact you can on their lives.

Keep doing good, even when no one applauds because You Are WORTHY TO BE GREAT!
