Even a quiet, simple lunch or dinner this Christmas or holiday season can mean everything — especially here in Canada, where the day feels colder and the distance from family back home in the Philippines or wherever home is feels a little heavier.

It doesn’t have to be fancy.

What matters is gathering the people who are here, sharing a meal, and creating a space where everyone feels connected, grounded, and remembered.

Those few hours around the table become a bridge between countries, a reminder that love doesn’t shrink with distance, and that even if part of the family is celebrating across the ocean, the warmth we share here keeps them close.

Renting vs Owning — Why There’s No “Right” Choice

You ever notice how people talk about renting and owning like it’s some kind of competition?

Like one is “winning” and the other is “falling behind”?

Let me tell you something… there’s no scoreboard here.

The truth is, there is a huge number of people who could buy a home… choose not to.

Not because they can’t.

But because they’ve found peace in the life they already have.

And on the other side?

There are people grinding, saving, planning — because owning a home represents a victory they’ve been working toward for years.

Two totally different paths.

Same human need: contentment.

Renters often discover freedom in flexibility.

No roof repairs.

No surprise furnace bills.

No tying down to a single neighbourhood.

They’re finding joy in the life unfolding right in front of them.

Homeowners?

They discover a different kind of peace:

The quiet confidence of stability.

The pride of saying, “This little piece of earth is mine.”

The long-term payoff that rewards patience and discipline.

Two different realities.

Two different versions of “home.”

MY REFLECTION..

Some people rent because it gives them space to breathe right now.

Others buy because it gives them space to dream long-term.

Both choices are valid.

Both take courage.

Both deserve respect.

So if you’ve ever felt judged for renting…

Or overwhelmed by the pressure to buy…

Take a breath.

You’re not behind.

You’re not failing.

You’re simply creating your own version of contentment — at your own pace.

And that’s exactly how it should be.

If ever you want to explore the path to owning, I’m here.

Calm. Patient. No pressure.

Just clarity — one step at a time.

Fred Camingal
