We protect what we love
FRIDAY . 19 . 02 . 21 .
Hello - Bonjour - hallo - hola - こんにちは - नमस्ते
My name is Majell Backhausen (pronounced My-Al ). I hope you’re going well?
Thank you for taking an interest in protecting Wild Places! The seeds of this forest are planted and we have an incredible opportunity right now.
I am STOKED you're a part of this team.
I’m a baker of many pies. They include Engineering, Trail & Outdoor Guiding, being a Patagonia Ambassador, Photographer, Presenter, Coach, and learning to be an Uncle.
I also LOVE hosting conversations which we released to the world as STOKELY.
Over the past 6 years, I’ve experienced living in the world of Trail & Ultrarunning from the trails of events such as UTMB, Marathon des Sables, Hong Kong 100, Manaslu Mountain Trail Race, to name a few.
It’s incredible! Winning is great for the ego, getting sub-par results are terrifying for the ego.
Through these experiences, I realised there is an incredible opportunity for the Trail Running community to be stewards of the environment and protect the places we call our Wild Souls Place, Playground, Life Stream, Church… you know what place and FEELING I am referring to here, that pure peaceful silent stoked existence and joy we have on trails.
For Wild Places was created by a small group of people with a common belief. "We can have a regenerative impact through our actions as trail runners, all whilst doing what we love, in places we need."
I am a part of this group because it brings a richness and depth to my existence in this community, something I need to help keep that fire burning.
If you feel what we are doing is a cause, belief or purpose you feel aligned to, reach out and let’s be the example we wish to leave for the people who inherit these trails from us.
