So sorry that I have to do this

Hi there
I must apologise profusely!
This email replaces your usual weekly wonderful For Wild Places (FWP) newsletter - I know heartbreaking but I think the news I have maybe worth the interruption.
I’ve not long returned from the beautiful Pilliga Forest, North West NSW, where we, the FWP crew spent time scouting routes for our new event ‘Pilliga Ultra’.
We had an absolute ball and very happy to let you know we have found two beautiful routes - a 20km and 50km (super technical yet diverse - trust me I have the cuts and bruises to prove it!).
I'm super excited to tell you registrations are now open - there are only 100 spots (94 now) available.
Join us on a challenge over breathtaking rocky outcrops, stunning views, and rare eucalypt woodlands as we run to save the ancient and vital Pilliga Forest from coal seam gas extraction.
Our two newly created trail running events (20k & 50k) raise money and awareness to support The Wilderness Society’s campaign to protect the Pilliga Forest and its communities from damaging fossil fuels and to bring us closer to the livable environment future Australians deserve.
As trail runners, these wild and natural areas are at the heart of our passion, and the connection to our sport depends on the survival of these environments.
For a bit of trail inspiration check out the video we put together from our scouting trip last week - this gives you a wonderful insight into the trails you'll be running - click here
The threat to the Pilliga Forest is a national matter. Beyond a refuge for flora and fauna and home to a vibrant local community, this land has cared for the Indigenous custodians of this land for millennia. It is also the lung that feeds clean water into the Great Artesian Basin — providing life-giving irrigation for much of inland Australia.
The Pilliga Ultra is an opportunity to make your voice heard and to show that the future of this forest is worth more standing tall and free than depleted and extracted.
Change happens when we run for it. So, let’s put one foot in front of the other and do what we do best.
Please join us in this very special event.
Best
Simon and the For Wild Places crew
P.S If for some reason you can't make it can I ask that you do one of the following:
- Please share this event with everyone you know
- Please donate - please remember you are donating not to support For Wild Places but to support the local communities working tirelessly to stop the destruction of the Pilliga
- Share your ideas with us on ways that we can promote, get businesses or running groups involved
