We protect what we love

FRIDAY . 08 . 04. 22 .

Project: Run Forever is officially underway. At 7am this morning, dedicated ultra-runner and wild places protector, Tom Batrouney started to run. And, if things go to plan, he may never stop. He's a real-life 'Forrest Gump'.

WHO IS TOM?

Tom is a regular person doing extraordinary things. He's a self-proclaimed "eco-runner" who embodies the practice of caring and advocating for the environment on which we live, adventure in and depend on, day in and day out.

"Tom is a true sports activist - an incredibly aware and empowered athlete, actively celebrating the wild places we all love whilst sharing his energy, inspiration, and passion with the world." - Hilary McAllister, FWP CEO

WHY RUN FOREVER?

After becoming a father, Tom became increasingly frustrated by the feeling of not being able to do enough to secure his son's future. This frustration grew into a crazy idea - Project: Run Forever.

"This is not a death wish, it's actually the exact opposite. I'm willing to put my body and mind through an incredibly tough challenge for the sake of future generations. Our kids!" - Tom Batrouney

The goal of Project Run Forever is to instill a sense of hope - that everyday people can make a difference. Tom is hoping that his physical and mental feat will inspire others to practice the same environmental awareness.

SMALL DONATIONS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

Whether it is $5 or $500. We want to show the world what running can do to protect wild places.

Donate Now

With thousands of people following Tom, we are hoping to raise much money to support Seabin Foundation and For Wild Places (that's us) - two environmentally focused organisations that seek to leave the land and waters of this world in a better state for future generations.

If the donation's keep coming, Tom will keep running!

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

Tom, the Seabin Crew & co at Manly Dam

There are a number of fantastic ways for you to get involved:

Get on down to Manly Dam

This is one of the most visible ways to show your support. Bring your energy, stoke and general good vibes - all of this will be much needed and, no doubt, much appreciated. Meet at the main entry to the dam on King Street.

There will be giveaways from sponsors including Heaps Normal, Single O, Fractel, Trail Brew and Le Bent.

You can also come and say hi to the FWP Crew and stand with us as we cheer on Tom and give out some high fives.

Spread the word

Feel free to invite and share this event with others. We'd love as many people as possible to share this experience and be inspired by Tom.

You’ll enjoy a collection of epic surf films under the stars, learn about solutions to climate change and how to not ‘kook it on climate’. There will also be food trucks, panel discussions, live music, and fossil-free surf sessions.

This is a free event, but you need to register to attend.

🎥 🏄‍♀️ 🌊

That's it from us this week. Our weekend will be spent supporting Tom, and we are excited to share stories and photos of this epic feat with you all next week.

Until then, happy trails. And, as always, thank you for taking the time to support wild places!
