THIS WEEK'S CONTRIBUTOR
Mel Urie
Mel is an ultra athlete of epic proportions. A Melbourne local who on top of working full time and looking after her beloved cats has completed the Epic 5 in Hawaii, three Ultra-triathlons and in 2019, was the first woman to ever complete Uberman. Uberman is renowned as being the worlds toughest ultra-triathlon, and involves a 33km ocean swim, 643km cycle with 6096m of elevation gain, to the lowest point in North America. From here, Mel ran 217 kilometers through Death Valley, climbing 3962 meters to Mt Whitney, the highest point in the lower 48. Mel is an active member of the Melbourne biking and running communities and is a massive inspiration to all women out there. We highly recommend checking out her conversation with Rich Roll here to hear all about her epic Uberman effort.

one last thing...
As part of the Pilliga Ultra in May, we are exited to launch a 5k event! Over the weekend we will also be dropping a 20km training plan, for those that might need a bit of guidance in training for a trail event, or need a bit of extra motivation as the days get shorter.
We would love to see you in the Pilliga in May, so check our all the event details here, and sign up today! Spread the word amongst your friends, pull a crew together and come be a part of this incredible cause to keep the Pilliga Forest coal-seam gas free!
As always, thank you for taking the time for wild places βπΌ
