My friend bought an island

This weekend I went camping with a group of guys.

My buddy bought a huge 22-acre private island off the coast of Panama, so we decided to get away from the city for a bit.

This is pretty much untouched, undeveloped land. There were previous owners of the island who tried to tame it but failed, for now, it is totally wild.

It was funny, I sent my Dad a picture of my camp setup sleeping under the stars, it’s the same silk camping sheet and sleeping mat I used when I hitchhiked my way through Central America (including Panama) back in 2003 and 2004.

I take good care of my stuff!

It was a bit of work to get out there but the remoteness just added to the appeal. To turn off the computer and get away for a bit was a dream. Maybe next time I will bring the kids and we will go for a week. My daughter will go nuts building sandcastles and swimming in the warm water every day.

Anyways, this place was stunning, so stunning that I think most people would be shocked that it was Panama. I don’t think people understand how beautiful this country is and how different the landscape and topography can be.

Maybe a year ago I did an entire episode on how to move to Panama and find your own slice of paradise, whether that be the slow island life or the hustle and bustle of downtown Panama City.

People went nuts for the episode and it’s one of the most downloaded episodes I have ever done; now understand some of the visa options have changed since this episode was published but there are still loads of applicable information and valuable evergreen concepts in it:

If you want to move to Panama and want up-to-date information on immigration AND you have at least $200,000 USD to invest, then you can reach out to me and I will point you in the right direction.

Best,

Mikkel
