The Tinder Swindler

The other night I watched The Tinder Swindler on Netflix with my wife.
If you have absolutely nothing to do and want to kill some time, it is well worth watching, there are some important lessons in it.
Not to ruin too much of the plotline, but it’s a documentary about girls who think they have found Mr. Prince charming — the son of a billionaire diamond mogul. He whisks them away from their everyday life to one of private jets, Italian sports cars, designer clothes and caviar & champagne service for breakfast.
The only problem is, it’s all fake.
These girls fall into an international Ponzi scheme, he pays for one adventure after another with the last girl's credit cards and her unsecured loans.
The whole story is told via personal interviews with the girls and through WhatsApp chat history and Instagram photos.
It’s pretty scary to watch actually.
This is one of the reasons my social media subscriber count has always sucked, I don't have what it takes to get ahead and pretend to be something I am not, honestly, I look at most of the profiles on Instagram and think, wow, you look like such a twat!
Yes, I have travelled a lot, more than most anyone on planet earth, but if you go to my Instagram feed it's mostly just memes making fun of the lockdowns or highlighting the stupidity of inept governments. You are not going to find pictures of me trying to floss, dumping money on overpriced brands, or trying to show the exotic destinations I visit, it’s just not my style.
Which brings us to the rub…
You really can’t believe what you see on social media. There is so much fake stuff out there and so many people trying to pretend to be something they are not.
So how do you know I really know what I am talking about in the expat and offshore space and I am who I say I am?
Well, for one thing, you can look at the over 170 interviews I have done with some of the greatest minds in my space via my podcast.
And for another, you are welcome to come to meet me here in Panama, we are having a huge party here on March 5th, with people flying in from all over the world.
Come shake my hand, speak to me, spend time with the other members of the community and meet the many clients who I have helped transform their lives, see for yourself what type of organization I run and how I do business.
The expat life is tough to navigate, especially if you don't have friends.
Really, the most important thing is finding someone you can trust to work with.
If you are keen to take our (business) relationship to the next level then swipe right and come meet me and the rest of the team here in Panama on March 5th, it’s going to be a blast.

PS. I am not selling anything at this event and I am paying for the entire thing out of my own pocket. For me, this is all about strengthening our community and the relationship with my subscribers, with everything that is happening in the world I think the best investment you can make will be in the true relationships you have
