Panama Just Ranked One of the Best Countries for Expats
Oct 03, 2025 12:11 pm
I’ve been saying this for years, but more people are finally starting to feel it:
The West is no longer working for the middle class.
Sky-high taxes, inflation that eats your paycheck, and a culture where hard work seemingly gets punished.
That’s why so many are packing up and heading to Latin America.
Guess which country keeps topping the list?
Panama, the place I call home.
This isn’t just my opinion; according to a recent survey featured in Fortune, which spanned over 10,000 expats from 172 nationalities, Panama is one of the best countries on Earth for expats.
Panama completely dominated the survey, placing in the top 3 in every category that matters: cost of living, safety, financial opportunity, and expat happiness.
Why are more freedom-minded expats than ever moving to Panama?
For one, over 94% of expats in Panama report being happy with their life abroad...
...and when your cost of living is significantly lower than what is in the U.S. or Canada, it’s hard to be upset.
The other major factors are ones you’ve heard me discuss for years: residency is straightforward and easy to obtain, top-notch, affordable healthcare is prevalent, and rapid improvements are being made to its expanding infrastructure.
Retirees are leading the flight south, as 35% of expats in Panama are already retired, compared to a global average of just 11%.
The mainstream is now beginning to catch on to what I’ve been shouting from the rooftops for years: the future of freedom is here in Panama and all throughout Latin America.
The opportunities are here. The infrastructure is ready. The momentum is building.
All you need to do is take that first, bold step toward building your new life abroad.
And we’re here to help you do exactly that.
We’ll be discussing everything you need to know and more about what the future holds for Latin America and your Plan-B at the Expat Money Online Summit 2025: The Future is Latin America, starting just one week from today.
The best part? It costs nothing to attend; you just need to register in advance.
I can’t wait to see you there.
Speak soon,
Mikkel
