Your Poshmark Starter Guide

From Closet to Cash: Turn your unworn pieces into money—and a wardrobe you actually love.

Poshmark is an online “consignment” platform that facilitates buying and selling clothes and household item. I’ve been using it successfully for years and have made a few thousand dollars! It takes time but I consider it my hobby and a good way to recycle clothes.

If you’ve been curious but unsure where to start, here’s a simple guide to get you going.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Download the app or sign up online—it only takes a few minutes.

👉 Tip: When you create your account, you can use my code to get a $15 credit in your account immediately. — https://posh.mk/7GYcv9VyB2b   I also receive a small credit as well. Win-win!

Step 2: Understand How It Works

Shipping: The buyer pays for shipping, which is a flat rate $12.49 in Canada, unless the seller chooses to offer a discount. You pack it with the automatically created shipping label and drop it off at the Post Office.

Payments: Once your item sells and is delivered, Poshmark credits your account.

Your Money: You can either transfer your balance to your bank account anytime.Or use it to shop from other sellers (I have bought real Gems from Poshmark)

Step 3: Know the Fees

  • Poshmark takes 20% commission on sales over $20
  • Or a flat fee of $2.95 for items under $20

It’s the cost of using the platform—but it also handles payment processing, shipping labels, and exposure to buyers

Step 4: Create Listings That Sell

This is where many people fall short—but it’s also where you can stand out.

Do this well and your items will move:

  • Take lots of photos (good lighting is everything)
  • Include close-ups of fabric, details, and labels
  • Show any flaws clearly (transparency builds trust)
  • Add a short video if you can—it helps bring the item to life
  • Always include measurements

👉 There are no returns on Poshmark, so buyers need to feel confident the item will fit. Measurements are key.

Step 5: Price Strategically

  • Start slightly higher than your bottom price—buyers love to make offers
  • Be open to negotiation, but know your limits

Step 6: Poshmark help is awesome!

  • Their help section is extensive and should answer ANY further questions. Just Google your question!
  • BEWARE of scammers. People are sometimes approached after creating an account by scammers wanting to buy your item but want you to send them money first for some zany reason. Just ignore!

Final Thought

If you’ve been holding onto clothes “just in case,” this is your sign. Turn them into something useful—whether that’s cash in your pocket or a more intentional wardrobe.

Don’t wait to feel good about your closet—you can start today.

👉 My Closet Edit Service helps you:

• Decide what to keep, tailor or let go of

• Create a wardrobe you actually love and wear

•Identify pieces that are perfect for resale

You don’t have to do it alone—and you don’t have to wait.

✂️ The Little Threads That Are Secretly Ruining Your Look

You know that small tag stitched onto the sleeve of your blazer?

The one that says the brand name, often perched proudly near your wrist like it’s doing something important? Yeah… it’s not. It’s got to go.

That tag is only there for the store — not for your outfit, not for your style, and definitely not for everyday wear.

And while we’re at it…

That little stitched “X” holding the slit (vent) closed at the back of your jacket?

Also not meant to stay. It’s purpose is to keep the vent secure while shipping only.

Consider this your friendly nudge — because if I ever see you in public with these still attached, just know… I’ll be silently reaching for imaginary scissors. 😄

 Motif Pants

Motif patterned summer pants are fun, eye-catching. Pair them with a simple top and let the print do the work. That said, most of these styles are cut a little wider through the leg, which can overwhelm a petite frame. And if your shoulders are narrower than your hips, bold or busy patterns on the bottom can draw even more attention to the silhouette difference. The key is to be intentional—choose a print scale and silhouette that works with your body, not against it, so you can enjoy the trend while still feeling beautifully balanced.
