The Orphans in Your Closet
You find a fabulous cardigan in a colour you love. It fits beautifully, so into the cart it goes! 🛍️ You can picture wearing it to work or out to dinner. But a few months later, it's still hanging in your closet-with the tags attached. Sound familiar? You're not alone.
Sometimes the challenge becomes clear only after we bring it home. The cardigan needs a top underneath, but yours all seem to be the wrong colour or neckline. The pants are great, but your usual shoes have the wrong heel height.
Or that dress you pictured wearing to work suddenly feels less practical when the office thermostat is set to "Arctic," and none of your jackets or sweaters work with it. 🥶
The individual piece may be lovely, but without the right companions, you don't quite have an outfit. and then it becomes what what I call a closet orphan: a piece left unworn because it doesn't have the right pieces to bring it into an outfit. Sometimes the missing item is already in your wardrobe; other times, a little targeted shopping can help complete the look.
The goal isn't simply to fill your closet-it's to create outfits that fit and make you feel fabulous for everyday life and occasions you actually have.
