Healthy Six: "The Bonus Cut" Week

image

Hi ,

True Story:

About 8 years ago, I was working with my own personal trainer, Roxy, trying to get leaner and more "cut" - cut is a term used in the health and wellness spheres, and also in Hollywood circles. When stars are preparing for a role where they will be naked a fair bit, they go through a period of "cutting" - and it is pretty much what you expect. You cut out every single thing except for lean protein, high-fibre / low glycemic veggies (the greens), and water and you drop pounds quickly.

Roxy scared me. Covered in tattoos, short, blonde spiky hair, giant plate earlobe earrings, her wife was tiny and petite and she was, quite franksly, a pure muscle beast. She pushed me. At the time, I was really struggling with sugar. For many of us, sugar is the first addiction and the one that continually bites at our heels. I texted Roxy one day, whining that I wanted a cookie, and she said, "Suck it up. I just had a cold brown rice omelet. If I can eat that, you can give up sugar."

We can go to extremes, or we can Healthy Six which is a lifestyle I much prefer.

The first few years of the Healthy Six we would end a cohort and breathe a sigh of relief - thank God that's over. Now, this is the program I live and breathe. Don't get my wrong: I love the "reboots" as they provide me with good structure for a month.

This time around, my successes have been:

What I need to work on:

This cohort meant the world to me - now I would love to keep you on board.

We begin our "new" program this Wednesday with Cynthia Funk who will teach you meditation. On May 14th we will do my most powerful Reboot every - "Healthy Six: One Life." I will begin this program on my 10-year sobriety date.

I will be redoing my website, but for now you can join us here

It includes:

But I would love you al to join me in a final BONUS week for Winter 2024!

A Healthy Six Version of a cut: Lean into HEALTHY!

Back to Roxy:

In the gratitude journal I kept at the time I was working with Roxy, I wrote deeply about my relationship with sugar - why it was so hard for me, how it was masking my trauma, my new sobriety. I was 2 years sober from booze....but not sober. I was addicted to sugar and had swapped on for another. I call this "whack a mole" - one thing goes down, others pop up. For the last ten years I have been moving in this direction, towards a better version of me. I sometimes go overboard, too - but when I pulled it back in, I find myself happier.

But I beat myself up in that journal. I chose a trainer who would beat me up, too. She did it with love, but not a lot of compassion.

I have evolved, now at 51, to be a trainer and coach with a ton of knowledge, but also love and compassion. I would love to keep working with you all.

Sometimes I take a few steps back, but I am always trying to go forward.

Hope you come forward with me.
