How are you doing?

I'm on the mend from my cold.

Today as I sit here and write the newsletter Storm Ciaran in the UK, is causing high winds, heavy rainfall, and disruptions of all kinds.

Recently we had a leak in the roof our kitchen, that was dripping and causing a pool of water in the ceiling and then dropping to the floor.

Last month we decided to get this problem sorted. I researched and found some roofers to come and give us quotes and their theory about what the problem was and how their solution would fix it. They all had slightly different theories and ways of solving the problem.

We decided on who we thought gave a good assessment and a price which included a 2-year guarantee on the workmanship.

The work was done and we thought that was the end of it.

Half an hour ago I went into the kitchen and I was surprised to find a pool of water in the kitchen.

Here's what I thought about this situation:

• I don't regret having made the investment
• I don't believe I made the wrong choice of roofer
• This has rain has been a good test of the fix!
• I'll contact the roofer and see when he can come and take another look

I didn't immediately think:

• Berate myself for choosing the wrong roofer
• Think I'd made the wrong choice
• Think I'd wasted money in getting the problem solved
• Worry that my husband would be judgemental find fault and blame me for a choice we both made

The moral of the story is investing in yourself is a risk.

And even if your first attempt you don't succeed it doesn't mean that you should not do it or find a different solution.

Because truly there is so much value in investing in yourself, and the knowledge you gain and the lessons you learn.

The change and transformation that you seek in life doesn't come without investment and betting on yourself.

The costs are high for staying stuck and the same.
