Dear Wonderful Woman,

How are you doing?

I hope you're well.

Because of the Easter Break, I was excited and yesterday, I sent out a bonus email! Awesome!

Today I'm sharing that my Masterclass this month will be on Cultural Identity and Career Progression. Save 28th April, 7pm-8:30pm if you'd like to join us!

And now for 3 Tips to move beyond Cultural Identity for Career Success:

1 Review who you surround yourself with and what is the main kind of thinking you hear?

I said this last week in relation to money mindset and it's true in this context too. Surround yourself with people that see opportunity and are solutions focussed. Sometimes in some "communities" there is a tendency towards pessimism and no belief in taking calculated risks!

2 The notion that "Failure is worse than death!"

With this one certain communities are focussed on achievement and attainment, which is good. But not at the exclusion of how to accept "failure" in a healthy way that doesn't make the person in question who failed an outcast! Here I say you need to make the choice to change and re-frame your beliefs on failure. Again know you can only change yourself. Don't try to convert "community members" to your way of thinking.

3 The notion that elders are untouchable and to be revered!

Yes of course respect and deference your elders outside of work. You need think about if you are taking this thinking into work and how this could be hindering your ability to lead, assert or challenge respectfully. Here I say think about and reflect on the last time you wanted to challenge or voice an opinion to someone more senior than you. What did you do, say or not say?
