Some people in pain need your help

Hello,
In my past life (for about 20 years) I worked with people suffering from chronic pain. I was grateful to apply many of these performance psychology principles to help this population.
Of greatest benefit was the multidisciplinary care we provided, integrating all the medical and psychological sciences for a truly comprehensive approach that helped many people live their best lives despite pain.
In recent years, my colleague Leonard Van Gelder of DMR Move took this cutting edge treatment to another level! He created a comprehensive new approach to complex human health problems—an approach grounded in person-centered care, reinforced by scientific rigor, and meeting world-class standards. You can read more about his story here.
In short, they are unlike most PT clinics in Grand Rapids and have helped so many clients that were lost in the medical system.
My friend and colleague, Dr. Steve Hamming was one of them. Steve is a CrossFit Masters World Champion (2014) and describes his experience at DMR:
- "It got to the point where I could not lift my leg up, I was getting muscle cramps everywhere. My coach wondered if I had Parkinson’s, we had no idea what was happening in my body ... I’d been to physical therapy and I’d been to chiropractors and a lot of different professionals getting help… I was not getting better, I hurt everywhere, it made no sense to me and I thought this could be the end of being an athlete for me.
- I remember the moment that you looked at me and said, “I know what this is. You’re going to be fine.” You took this mess that was happening in my body, you figured it out, and offered hope. I’ve had no recurring issue with my back, despite the demands I put on it.”

The Crisis
Committed to broadening healthcare access, DMR decided to accept all forms of insurance including Medicaid, auto and workers compensation - all of which have their unique and complicated rules and processes for billing.
This necessitated that they outsource their billing as many clinics do. However, the billing company neglected the DMR accounts and set up a financial crisis. Loans are not possible (banks don't like to lend to healthcare in general, but especially not to one in a crisis). They have exhausted their support from friends and family.
This cutting edge, effective, patient-centered clinic is now at risk to be out-of-business soon unless funds can be raised to bridge the gap ...
How You Can Help
From Leonard, "Our last viable option is a crowdfunding campaign in order to get enough financial resources to be able to survive our transition to in-house billing. It’s a desperate step, but one that we must take if we are to keep our doors open and continue to serve the community that so desperately needs us. We are confident that with just enough to bridge this transitional gap we will bounce back, but we need your help to do so!
Your contribution serves as a vital lifeline, enabling us to continue offering transformative care. In navigating these difficult times, we believe that we can emerge stronger with your support.
Once we recover financially, we are committed to giving back. A portion of our profits will be progressively donated to the Institute of Contextual Health (IOCH), up to and exceeding the amount we received from this fundraiser. The IOCH focuses on advancing individualized healthcare frameworks and aiding underserved communities affected by chronic pain and complex movement disorders. Your support doesn’t just help us; it contributes to a larger cause."
As of today, with only 10 days left, they are only at 55% of the needed goal.
Any amount will help keep the DMR doors open and 100% of your donation will be eventually forwarded on to the IOCH charity. You can contribute here.
Thank you,
Dr E
