How negative self-talk can help you play better

Hi,
Here's a surprise.
Sometimes talking negative can be positive!
It was a tough day in the gym today. My mind got soft and relaxed as the weights got heavier. I had to notice the slip and choose my intensity. When I did, the weight felt lighter!
More details in the video below ...
Now someone challenged me and asked why I wasn't more self-compassionate like I so often teach? How could I call myself a wimp, and would I want someone yelling at my kids that way?
Great question.
And no, I wouldn't want anyone to talk to my kids like that. I don't want anyone talking to me like that. And I wouldn't say that to anyone else either.
But in this occasion it was ok, even beneficial, because of the heart I said it with. I did not shame myself. I didn't feel bad when I said it. I felt like I believed in myself and the tone was encouraging.
We really don't want to judge our self-talk as good/bad or positive/negative based on the content.
We want to evaluate if what we are saying is helpful or hurtful.
I can help you do this inside Success Stories Membership here.
