The Casualties of Inconsistency are ...

Hello,

Credit goes to one of my high-performers this week who inspired the first post below. We've worked together for a while, and I didn't have to say a work as he told me some of his anxious symptoms were returning. He quickly added, "but I have fallen off my mindfulness practice and didn't get good sleep recently ... I guess my struggles are the casualties of inconsistency."

Brilliant. Read more below :-)

Then I give you a sneak peak into the new "Mindfulness of the Mind" module I recently released inside our Success Stories Membership. This 40-minute lesson is filled with practical exercises to help you get distance from those racing and worried thoughts to help you be your best when it matters most.

Enjoy,

Dr Eddie

Consistency Matters

Everything you say and do matters.

Everything you š—±š—¼š—»ā€™š˜ say and do matters.

Donā€™t believe these lies:

āŒ Just this once wonā€™t hurt

āŒ I can miss this workout and it wonā€™t matter

āŒ I did good all week, I can cheat on my nutrition/sleep today

āŒ Iā€™m doing most of my rehab exercises, thatā€™s good enough

āŒ Itā€™s ok to skip my mindfulness practice once in a while

āŒ I donā€™t have to focus/hustle hard now, Iā€™ll just turn it up in a game

You train your mind and body into patterns with every repetition. You want to be consistent with the best possible technique, effort and attitude to yield optimal results. Donā€™t waste a quality repetition or opportunity to make improvements.

On game day the sum of your choices will be tallied and show up in your results.

Every minute of sleep you get helps recovery. Every minute you trade sleep some of your 8-9 hours of sleep for wakefulness is a missed opportunity to grow. On game day, your sleep dictates the energy, focus and strength you have. Your reaction times and power will be correlated with your sleep duration and quality.

Every minute of mindfulness practice trains your brain to be more focused and let go of distraction, improving emotional control. The minutes you skip are lost opportunities for improvement. Those missed opportunities show up under pressure with increased errors, anxiety, anger, frustration and racing thoughts.

Nutrition is a biological science. What you put in to your body has an objectively scientific consequence that will affect you health, body composition, muscle growth and even your emotions. Everything you you eat and drink (and donā€™t eat and drink) has either a negative or positive impact.

Nothing doesnā€™t count.

Missed opportunities for growth, inadequate recovery, emotional liability, poor focus, technical and tactical mistakes are all ā€œcasualties of inconsistencyā€ in your training and lifestyle.

If sleep, mindfulness, exercise and nutrition are good of you one day ā€¦ wouldnā€™t it be even better for you to do it constantly every day?
