The Championship Blues and How to Handle a Loss

Hi ,

We do Question of the Day at my gym before each class, and today was "Who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl?"

The 49ers got 17 votes.

The Chiefs got 14 votes.

And Taylor Swift got 32 votes!

... There were a lot of non-football and Lions fans at the gym.

You know I'm a Bills fan. So this question hurt. I wanted to vote "rooting for next season " but that wasn't an option.

At least, not for our Question of the Day ... but it is a great response in life.

Where does your mind go after you lose the big game, fail the exam, screw up on that audition, or blow the big business deal?

Well after you spend time respecting the pain of your loss, you "root for the next season."

Or more specifically, you plan for it.

You evaluate what went wrong this time and make adjustments.

Here's a quick video to help you rebound from your mistakes and make the adjustments necessary to win next time:

And in this one I challenge you a bit. You lost for a reason. Can you get your ego out of the way and ask where you could improve the process so the outcome isn't the same the next time?

We are always competing.

Someone is trying to beat us, take our job, break our record.

Winning is intentional and it requires your best.

If you're not playing your best, don;'t let the weeks slip away and lose out on what could be possible this season.

Respond to this e-mail and let's work together to achieve your goals.

P.S. - I'm rooting for the 49ers for two reasons. 1) My son was in class with Ronnie Bell, the 49ers rookie WR from the University of Michigan, and 2) I'm holding a grudge against the Chiefs for knocking us out of the playoffs again.
