Do you have plan for when your plan doesn't work?!?

Happy Thursday
Do you have plan for when your plan doesn't work?!?
The answer is usually, "no" for two reasons:
- We love to get to the quick fix. So our first solution brings us relief and belief we will change and we feel better.
- The opposite of the same coin - to realistically look at what could go wrong creates necessary fear, anxiety and doubt. We don’t like that. Also, the REAL plan we need may be more uncomfortable than we want to accept. So we “try” a plan that is less likely to work. Change will often demand a lot from us. And the cost can be high in sacrifice. We do get something positive out of our “bad” habits. Otherwise we wouldn’t be doing them.
Watch the video below that helps you go "2 Deep" in your planning.

You Gotta Go 2 Deep
Obstacle:
You come up with this great plan to address the barriers to training or how to find the motivation and get started on that goal, or resist that craving and stop that bad habit. But then it doesn’t work. Your behavior doesn’t change Do you have plan for when your plan to overcome a challenge doesn’t work?
How to Overcome:
Move from simply goal-setting to having plan for what gets in the way. Then go “2 deep” and have a second plan for what could sabotage your original solution.
For example, you want to start exercising and so you get an accountability partner and plan to workout right after work before going home.
What could screw up this plan and then what will you do?
What if your partner gets sick and your motivation to go it alone is lacking?
A strong backup plan may be to focus on your identity as an “athlete” or “healthy person” and do it no matter what, because that’s what athletes and healthy people do.
The key is to have a plan for when your first plan doesn’t work.
If you would like assistance with this, I invite you to join Success Stories Membership. Get on the wait list now at www.dreddieoconnor.com/membership and be the first to know when doors open again in late February.
I created Success Stories Membership with this idea in mind. The one thing ALL my high performing clients have in common is this - they have to overcome their personal challenges. Some are emotional (e.g., fear and doubt), some are physical (e.g., pain), and some relational (e.g., negative supervisor or parental pressure).
In Success Stories Membership I teach you how to develop the mindset for success and adopt the foundational habits that lead to excellence.
All high performers are welcome (athletes, coaches, business men and women, performing artists, high risk professions, etc.) ... the only requirement is that you have to want to be better than you are today.
