Best exercises for long-term gains

I did poorly on the sumo squat yesterday.

Bad foot placement.

It's got me thinking—new lifters often spend a lot of time trying to discover the perfect technique for their exercises. The best exercises with the best technique to build the most muscle, right?

But the thing is, there's really no such thing as the best exercises—no one size fits all, at least.

Over time, as you try different exercises and techniques, you'll find that some work best for you. Even for the same exercise, one technique may be average, and another may give you great pumps and progress.

You just need to find out which. Look for exercises:

- You're comfortable performing (easy on your joints)

- You like (or at least don't dislike)

- That let you push yourself and exhaust your muscles so they grow

If you're just starting out, try different ones, but don't overdo it. It can slows down your gains. Learn more:

Your programs in Dr. Muscle will introduce new ones at the right pace automatically.

If you're more advanced, you probably already know the exercises you respond to the best. You may want to swap them into your workouts.

To do that, tap the three dots to the right of any exercise, then tap swap.

Don't hesitate to, as training the best exercises for you can really make a difference in your gains long-term.

To your gains,
