Today is my birthday, and like most people in their mid-40s, it usually passes with little fanfare. That's not to say it isn't special. My husband always makes sure I eat fantastic food, my two older sisters send fun presents, and my kids draw me fantastic cards full of their cute artwork.
October 19th is also the day I always call my own mother, not because it's my birthday, but because it's hers. That's right, I share a birthday with the best mom in the world. She even has the humor to call giving birth to me "a gift."
My mom and me. Anyone who says that giving birth to a child on her birthday is "a gift" should win Mother of the Year award.
This particular birthday is extra special because I've finally put my next fantasy novel out for preorder. Normally, I wouldn't announce a new release on my birthday, but given that this book is about a mother and magic, it seemed like a fitting way to celebrate both my mom's and my special day.
