I'm one of those book nerds who likes to read the novel before seeing the movie or TV series. That's why for the past few weeks I've been diving into Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse series. For those you who haven't read it, it's a YA fantasy world of magically-gifted people in a world of darkness and war. This is my first read through the Shadow and Bone trilogy that follows Alina the sun summoner as well as the Six of Crows duology in Kaz Brekker's mercenary world. It's definitely been an exciting read, and it's making me look forward to the Netflix series releasing later this month.

If you're a Grishaverse fan, feel free to talk Ravka with me at [email protected]. (Just be kind about spoilers...I'm not quite done with Crooked Kingdom, nor have I touched the King of Scars duology).
In other book news, I joined the International Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors (IASFA). Each month the IASFA offers huge book bundles from indie authors. This month's theme is urban fantasy, and in exchange for signing up to their newsletter, you'll get access to a list of free novels such as:
- Buried Magic by TJ Green: Avery, a witch who lives on the Cornish coast, finds her past holds more secrets than she ever imagined in this spellbinding mystery. (Avg 4.5 stars with 1,733 reviews)
- Gods and Demons by BR Kingsolver: When an ancient blood-magic statuette appeared on an internet auction, mages from around the world descended on Washington. Then the mage selling it was murdered and the statue disappeared. (Avg 4.5 stars with 412 reviews)
- Claw & Warder Episode 1 by Erik Henry Vick: Leery Oriscoe is just a conflicted New York cop who got hit by the Hassidic bus—only the bus was driven by a werewolf. (Avg. 4.4 stars with 171 reviews)
- plus 40+ more great free fantasy books!
I'm part of the bundle too. I'm not only giving Chasing Lightning for free worldwide as part of the bundle, but I'm having a US/UK Amazon Kindle Book sale. You can snag the entire Magic of Sales series for $8.96 until April 17th!
Other Great Reads
Betrayed by Blood is on sale for $0.99. Andy is wanted for her mentor's murder, but she has to run to the one place she doesn't want to go: prison. Only by breaking out a wealthy Elemental named Gabriel can she clear her name.
The Devil's Own follows Delaney Murphy, the Devil’s daughter. She never expected to inherit all her father’s infernal abilities, but it gets worse when she begins to accidentally poison the people closest to her. Until next time, happy adventuring!
