Today is my favourite day of the year! *Deb does some weird twerking-type action*

National Cinnamon Roll Day—the one day of the year that it's okay to gorge on all the sweet and gooey treats (aka book boyfriends)!

The month of September was full of changes for my family—not all of them good.

So, let's start with the not-so-good. My mum, who has late stage dementia, knocked her leg and ended up with an infection. As a result, her dementia took a steep nosedive. She has spent several weeks in the hospital. At one stage we were told she only had weeks to live and there was nothing they could do. However, she's overcome the infection and they've adjusted her meds and she's doing better. The aim is to make her comfortable and ensure she's pain free. Doctors can't give us a prognosis, so we're living day to day, but she's out of imminent danger. It's been traumatic for all involved and the weight of the decisions having to be made fall on her husband and me.

All of this came around the two-year anniversary of losing my sister, so I was already feeling kinda raw.

Now, onto the good!

The second HUGE change is that my hubby, Chris, retired and turned 69! Yes, I'm living my very own age gap trope! He's excited and nervous about what the future holds. I've told him that he can have a two week break, then I'm pulling out the list of jobs that need doing around the house. (I'm only sort of joking) 😂

Because I barely cover my author expenses from the sale of my books, I can't support us with my writing or my part-time job. I'll probably need to find a job with more hours which will limit my writing time, but we'll see how things play out.

And finally, our youngest played his last football (soccer) game of the season. They finished out the season with a win, which was a fantastic result!

I've had a fantastic reading month.

I finished Amber Warden's Gentle Sinners series. Oh my gosh, I haven't enjoyed a series so much as I enjoyed this one in a long time. Even though this series is a mafia romance, I think the men in them are as close to cinnamon rolls as you'll ever get in this trope.

I also read and thoroughly enjoyed the spin-off duet from The Wolf Hotel series, featuring a side character named Ronan. Book boyfriend unlocked. Ronan was everything I love in a book boyfriend. He may have been a manwhore, but when he is with someone, he is 100% with that person. He destroyed his world to make hers better. *swoon*

And finally, now that Elsie Silver's Chestnut Springs is back in KU in Australia, I'm finishing the series. I was so disappointed when it disappeared from the Australian store before I could finish the series. If you love country boys, this series is pretty good.
