I have other recommendations to share, but they are TV shows rather than novels. All three are quite different from one another but really well done. First up is the thriller, True Detective: Night Country starring Jodi Foster. This is a dark story, literally and figuratively, as it takes place in northern Alaska in December. It’s an absolutely compelling story with mystical aspects to it.

For those of you who prefer lighter crime stories on the cozy side, I heartily recommend, Only Murders in the Building starring Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez. We’ve only seen season one, but it was thoroughly enjoyable, and I look forward to season two.

Third is a quirky, comedic police procedural series with an edge, called Deadloch. It’s set in Tasmania and features two very different female detectives who are thrown together to solve a string of murders. It’s funny but also has some darker moments. Quite entertaining!
