I hope this newsletter finds you well, and the slip back into wintry weather isn’t causing you too much bother.

It’s been pleasing to us to reach another couple of new customers with our veg boxes this week. The feeling of receiving back some of the energy that we put it into Day Zero and our mission is lovely, it really seems that word spreads organically among the community and every we have such lovely conversations with customers who really get what we do. 

There are so many threads woven through our community and the positive activities that we are all involved in and I found it very nourishing to reflect on that this last week.

I want to thank you for continuing to make donations at the shop to our rewilding efforts, which are generally aimed at enhancing biodiversity in our local area.

All sorts of things happen as these threads of community are woven and twist and wind around each other and as they reach out to new areas. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been talking with Network Rail about replanting trees on an area of embankment near our home. We reached an agreement to diversify the number of tree species that they are going to re-plant. The donations we’ve received mean we’ll get those trees in the ground this Spring and haven’t had to wait for a bureaucratic process (which may or may not have borne fruit).

So that’s just one outcome of these interwoven threads and this sort of flourishing is happening alongside us if we dig deep enough and look for it. I also feel that congratulations are due to Buxton Community school who have been awarded funding through Derbyshire Wildlife Trust to create an organic allotment garden for pupils and local people. 

These regular boosts of positive news feel like an antidote to the overwhelm of whichever media source you happen to tap into and a way of feeling into the knowledge that we do have power, that we can take action together and from that we don’t feel so alone and power-less.
