Hi ,

Hope you've been out enjoying the glory of the Autumn sunshine and all the colour of the changing seasons.

The harvest of organic produce continues to bring us some really wonderful varieties and it's so nice to be a part of the chain of people doing things differently. This week we've had apples that tick exactly none of the boxes that supermarkets require in their over-standardised produce. Shown here is a pitmaston pineapple apple. Yep you read that right. This is an old English variety dating back to the mid 1800's.

These small apples are so juicy and flavoursome, we like them so much that we planted this variety of tree at home a couple of years ago too. Hope those of you who've received them in veg boxes this week really enjoy them.

There are a few not-yet seasonal products starting to appear on our shelves as we've been asked for them. While mid-winter is still some way off, those of you who want to shop for gifts or ingredients will notice a few more things appearing in store and online in the coming weeks. We've already had a couple of bakers get stocked up on their Christmas cake marzipan!

My sourdough experiment went well again this week. Frankly, I was so pleased with my wholemeal loaves that I just have to show you a picture! If you're more experienced at this baking lark than me (it wouldn't take much), then do send in your tips!
