The fruit and veg coming through the shop at the moment is really superb. We're loving the sweetcorn, all the wonderful varieties of squash and the sheer choice in English apples. As I type this, I'm munching a russet apple which is just gorgeous. There is still huge variety out there, UK growers are doing a fantastic job and play a hugely important role and we're so grateful to them.
Being a link in the chain of bringing great quality and diverse varieties to you is really a big part of why we do this and it's lovely to hear customers say how much you appreciate the great produce we're able to supply.
This week we've also had a restock of preserves and chutney from our friends in Macc, Fruits of the Forage. We're going to tuck into a jar of Cider and Onion chutney, but the Halloween Pumpkin chutney is probably our fave. Give them a go.
Are any of your home sourdough bakers? For the first time I gave it a go this week, and was pretty pleased with the results. A friend pointed me in the right direction with a link to an easy to follow method and it worked a treat. Going to have another go this weekend, watch this space and do share any tips and favourite recipes and we'll pass them on.
