We traveled in tandem with my daughter and son-in-law and the two grand girls on a road trip from Illinois to Denver last week. I hadn’t seen my mom for Thanksgiving in ages, so I’m thankful that we had perfect travel weather and she was able to take some time off. I’d forgotten how much planning it takes to travel with littles. The mental energy that buying all the right snacks, packing toys to keep them busy, finding parks along the way for short walks and picnic lunches was no joke! The two-year-old wanted no part of the hotel pool, but she was an ace in her carseat during the long stretches of driving.
Now that I’ve finished my 2021 projects, I’ve been catching up on reading. I’m downloading ALL the holiday-inspired novels arriving daily in the book newsletters I subscribe to like Bookbub and Fussy Librarian. I’m finishing up Olivia Miles’s Small Town Christmas right now, then I’ll start on All I Want for Christmas by Ellie Hall. There was also some book mail waiting for me when we returned⏤Katherine Center's Things You Save in a Fire (I love all of her books!) and Karen Schaler's newest Christmas book (can't remember the title off-hand). Now all I need is snow on the ground and a hot cocoa in hand and I'd be happy to sink into the couch for the next month.
Next week the Silver Leaf Falls authors are planning a special surprise to welcome the sixth and final book (for now), Christmas in Silver Leaf Falls. Brittney Joy's novella releases December 10th! Stay tuned!
