We're at the tail end of a four-day arctic blast tonight⏤finally. After camping out in front of a radiator with a throw around my neck since Saturday, tomorrow might feel a little tropical when the temperature outside hits the twenties. On the bright side, progress on the newest book has taken off.
I mentioned in last week's newsletter that I'd be featuring a different clean romance author once every month in 2024. So, today I'm very happy to introduce Jodi Allen Brice to you!
Jodi Allen Brice is a USA Today best-selling author of over forty novels. She writes cozy mysteries, small-town romance, women’s fiction and Christian fiction. She transitioned away from paranormal romance in 2020 when the virus hit. She said she felt she needed to write a book that would change hearts and minds where Christ is concerned. She is a Christian who loves studying Bible prophecy and spending time with her family in Arkansas. She’s also an avid quilter and camper. Sometimes she does both at the same time!
Her free book, Promises Kept, the first book in her Harland Creek series, is set in the town of Harland Creek, which is an actual place in Mississippi. It's not a town, but more like a community where everyone helps their neighbor. She says she's always wanted to write a book about a flower farm. To Jodi, that would be "the ideal job to have."

I asked Jodi to tell us a little more about her writing life and interests. Here's what she said:
Tell us about your favorite writing space:
I have a couple of different writing spaces. My primary writing space is my office which is downstairs in my home. I like writing at my desk because I seem to concentrate better in an isolated area. I love it because it has all the gifts from readers which I have displayed on the wall and on my bookcase. But in the wintertime, I carry my laptop upstairs to the fireplace. I love snuggling up in my chair and writing near an open fire.
When did you first discover you wanted to become a writer?
I have always wanted to be around books. When I was a child, I would pretend that I was a librarian. As I grew up, I realized that librarians didn't make much money, so I went to school to be a nurse. After moving to Arkansas, I became a stay-at-home mom. When my son went to school, I got bored. One summer I sat down and wrote a book. The rest is history!
What's the next book on your to-be-read pile?
My goal for 2024 is to read more physical books instead of ebooks. Right now, on my nightstand, is Sense and Sensibility. I've read Pride and Prejudice a thousand times, but never Sense and Sensibility.
What are you looking forward to in 2024?
Reading physical books and making sourdough bread.
