I'd hoped to share some smash cake photos from our grandgirl's first birthday on Saturday but the party was postponed⏤everyone was sick! So the adorable little cake is in the freezer for ten more days. It's just the cutest! I can't wait to show you.

Today I'm sharing a sneak peek at PROMISE ME OCTOBER which finds wedding photographer Kiley Byrne fighting her attraction to Bret Hanning, the man she’s worked with during North Shore events for the last three years. Will their last weekend together at Blueberry Point Lodge turn their professional relationship into one a little more personal?
Here's the snippet:
Rummaging, Kiley spotted one can of diet cola behind the other sodas in the refrigerator. She was moving the cans around when a pair of brown leather shoes appeared next to her and the familiar deep voice floated down at the same time.
“I didn’t realize I’d been replaced here.”
Kiley gasped and instinctively jumped back.
Except she was holding onto the refrigerator shelf for balance. Already off-kilter from squatting, Kiley landed on her hip, pulling the shelf and more than a dozen cans with her. One punctured can rolled away, spraying Kiley with a fine, cold mist.
The brown shoes chased the errant can which was scooped up in a hurry. It clattered into the small sink above her head.
“I’m so sorry for scaring you. Here, take my hand.”
So, Bret Hanning was here after all.
There was soda in her eyes, soda drying on her cheeks, and soda dribbling down her neck. But she took the outstretched hand because she didn’t trust herself not to make matters worse getting up from the slick tile behind the bar.
His large, warm hand gripped hers, righting her on her feet in no time. Bret was still in a semi stoop when she went upright and they accidentally bumped noses. His left cheek to her right nostril to be exact. Could this get any more awkward?
