I'm featuring a different clean romance author once every month in 2024. So, today I'm very happy to highlight author Jodi Bayse.

Jodi is the author of authentic Western romances full of heart-pounding adventure and happily ever afters. She’s also a born and bred country girl with a Western heritage and a love for stories that stay true to her cowboy boots and ranching roots. She’s been writing all hours of the night since she was sixteen years old. Old habits die hard. Now she’s the blessed wife to a rugged, mountain man bush pilot, and homeschooling mama of two, writing beside her wood cook-stove in the wilds of Alaska.

Her books are steeped with toe-curling romance that don’t cross the line, spine-tingling suspense that keeps you turning pages, authentic cowboys worthy of swooning over, and inspirational messages that will lift your spirit.

If you have yet to sample a Jodi Bayse book, here's a FREE title she's offering to readers.

Five Questions for Jodi ~

1) Tell us about your favorite writing space.

Despite the nice desk area I have upstairs, you can usually find me cozied up writing by my wood cookstove (whom I lovingly call "Bessie") .

2) What was your inspiration behind the series you're currently promoting?

My inspiration for the Cross Creek Ranch series stems from my passion for both historical western and contemporary cowboy romances. As someone deeply rooted in country life, raised in a family with generations of ranching heritage, I wanted to bring to life that rich setting inspired by my first-hand experience. While I began this writing journey with my historical series (Cross Family Saga), the idea of crafting a multi-generational family saga seemed to be the natural answer to my love for both time periods.

Additionally, while I can see the appeal of the authentic essence of rural life captured by shows like Yellowstone and 1883, I wanted to offer readers of Christian & clean romance an alternative by writing books with all the grit and intensity of those shows, while steering clear of any explicit content, focusing instead on wholesome, action-packed adventures.

3) When did you discover you wanted to be a writer?

I've always loved the written word. Maybe it’s just how my brain processes things, but I found at a young age that I could craft and rearrange sentences like an art form, molding them into something that could draw out emotion from the reader. Maybe it was an odd habit for a thirteen year old to prefer writing notes and letters to chatting on the phone, but that’s who I was. When my dad and I built my first desktop computer as a homeschool project, and I set it up in my room, I was hooked. I stayed up for hours at night writing poems and short stories. Once I took a creative writing course at the local community college, I knew that one day I wanted to write a book. It would be years of jotting down paragraphs and partial scenes in the margins of notebooks that would never see the light of day, though, before I would finally take that first real step into publishing.

4) What's the next book on your To Be Read pile?

I have so many that I want to read next! It kills me. I pretty much have to "eeny meeny miny moe" it. I've read several first books in different series lately though, so I'd like to go back and start finishing some of those series. Most likely my next read will be Book 2 in either Ronie Kendig's The Metcalf's series or Tara Grace Ericson's Black Tower Security series.

5) What is your favorite book you've written and why?

Any author will likely tell you that's as hard as asking a mom if she has a favorite child. I couldn't possibly pick. However, I have to say the most fun I had writing a book was Maddie Jo, Book 3 in the Cross Creek Ranch series. Readers seem to agree, too. It's a fan favorite.
