I'm sooo resisting the urge to get outside and clean up the flower beds. It's like a terrible itch I can't scratch.
Last year, I started leaving the mulch and leaves I'd put around my perennials in the fall until it warmed up a little more. I'd read it keeps the beneficial bugs safe while it's still too cold for them to hatch. Giving the environment, especially our bee friends, a little boost is something I truly believe in, but I really struggle with wanting clean beds when the sun shines and I can walk outside without a coat.
It reminds me a little of what I'm dealing with in my writing life at the moment. I'm really close to finishing this first revision. Whenever I'm not particularly motivated to write new chapters, I'm VERY tempted to go back and fiddle with stuff I've already written, to clean up the story. It's painful not to rewrite passages, check spelling, grammar, etc. Don't get me wrong, that's something I have to go back to, but the urge to procrastinate on making real progress during this first version is so tempting!
