Hubby and I celebrated our anniversary last weekend so we took a quick trip to Marquette, Michigan for a long weekend. He's in heaven in the Upper Peninsula because ROCKS! of course. Collecting rock samples usually involves bumping along gravel and dirt roads in the backcountry while the underbrush invades the truck cab if the windows are rolled down. Wearing a helmet is optional but not a bad idea with all the jostling going on as we navigate ruts and rocks in the "roads".
Maybe I know what you're thinking. "That doesn't sound like much of an anniversary trip to me," right? But it's always an adventure, and I'm pretty much up for anything if I can get away from the desk and head north for summertime temperates in the lower 70s for a few days. Plus we found a fantastic Creole restaurant in downtown Marquette for dinner. Lake Superior views and shrimp creole make up for most anything, even a rock sample excursion on our wedding anniversary.

I'm so excited to be working on a new series for this fall. Granted, I loved spending the last five years writing the Hearts in Hendricks and Blueberry Point series set in the same small town, but 2023 is a good time to move onto another locale. With that, I'm sharing the prequel story to That Woman on Thistledown Lane (coming October 24th).
Some of you may already be familiar with this one. I wrote French Toast with a Side of Love for the Sweet Romance: An Anthology which published in 2020. The story highlights Janie Wendell's and Mark Christie's swoony, delicious start to their relationship at the Daisy Gap Cafe in Port Chance, Iowa. It's definitely a happy-for-now story which continues on in That Woman on Thistledown Lane. I know you'll fall in love with these two. It's been so fun to write the twists and turns in this couple's love story.
