Last night I went to a Mindfulness program at the local library. It caught my attention when it rolled across my Facebook feed because the write-up said attendees would leave with a kit. The graphic showed paints and brushes, scattered amongst pretty purple blossoms. It was a very sublime photo. I felt myself relax just looking at it.
I'm all about kits. Free kits, to be more exact.
Admittedly, I've never dwelled on what the word "mindfulness" means. But during the presentation, I learned that I use many of the techniques for being mindful all the time as a writer. Creating characters that speak, listen, smell, taste, and touch hopefully bring them to life on the page.
I did leave with materials to make a gratitude jar. Last night, I slipped a piece of paper in there that mentioned being grateful for my husband making it safely on his cross-country trip. And the sweetest thing happened today. The four-year-old and three-year-old grand girls were with me today at the grocery store. They stood in front of some fresh flower bouquets, arguing about which one they wanted to buy for their mom and dad. Of course, they wanted different ones. Then along comes a man with his wife, and he told them if they can agree on one bouquet, he'd buy it for them! So, that's what I'm grateful for on Day Two.

I just started reading The Women by Kristin Hannah at the recommendation of my daughter. Everyone I know has read this very thick book in three or four days, they say. It's that good!
Below, I'm recommending one of RaeAnne Thayne's books. The ebook is currently on sale for $1.99. All of her small-town romances are so sweet, and focus on family ties.

Jessica Clayton knows what’s best for everyone but herself…
"This was perhaps the best so far of RaeAnne Thayne. I have read a lot of them and I appreciate her ability to help her heroines and hero’s rise above their obstacles and make the most of their lives, loving and giving themselves to others." ~ Amazon review
