I feel it, don't you? The chill-in-the-air, read-under-a-blanket, hot-cocoa nights time of year has arrived, I think. The furnace guy came yesterday and just in time. I don't think the thermometer outside hit sixty. It rained off and on. Some of the leaves on the tops of the maples are tinged with gold. Pumpkin is creeping into the menus at my favorite coffee shops and bakeries. I'm ready.

This past weekend I did my first book presentation in almost three years! Before COVID shut everything down, I regularly visited libraries, book fairs, and did book signings which I enjoy (as long as I don't have to give a speech). The one on Saturday was the perfect segue back into in-person events. There were 13 people, and we sat in a circle in the library's conference room while I talked for ten minutes about my latest series before the Q & A started. Lunch was catered from the deli across the street. I sold and signed some books. A delightful afternoon!

I'm nearing the deadline to turn LOVE, LIES and SLEIGH RIDES into the editor. The release date is still set for October 20th. I should have a pre-order up in time for next week's newsletter.

What am I reading now? I bought The House on Apple Hill Lane by Elizabeth Bromke a few months ago along with a handful of other books and then promptly buried the stack with research notes for the Sleigh Rides book. I cleaned the desk over the weekend and -- ta da! -- my long-lost books. So I've started that and am thoroughly enjoying it.
