A Blueberry Treat for You and a Sweet New Release

We've seen some big firsts around the house this past week involving sleepovers, preschoolers, and the pup.

We've had some big firsts in our family this past week! The grand girls spent their first overnight with Eema (that's me) and Bapa (my hubby) while their parents escaped for a short weekend to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The pup had his first overnight at the boarder on the same night because, let's be honest, toddlers and a pup have way too much fun together and 24+ hours is a long time. Aaand, our oldest granddaughter started preschool yesterday! Where did the last three years go?

I'm writing fast and furiously these days now that whatever was mentally blocking me has disappeared. Maybe I left it in Wisconsin last week when my husband and I were up there fishing and hiking for a few days. Anyway, it's gone, so good riddance. Next week this manuscript goes to the editor for her first look. I still have some plot maneuvering to do but I'm finally on a roll!

SHELF AWARENESS, Part II: Last time I introduced you to the biggest shelf in the house. Would you like to see the newest one?

This shelf was a freebie from someone downsizing before their move to another house ⏤ lucky me! It holds my collection of books by my author friends and my titles as well. I've also made room for some of the books I still have from my younger days like the edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales given to me by my godmother, and my dad's 1946 copy of Fun with Dick and Jane that I learned to read with. It's also where I stash the books I've decided to part with for the Clean My Shelves giveaways, though I'm coming to the slow realization that title is really misleading. For every two books I give away each month, I seem to gain the same amount or more.

A VERY WARPED, WELL-LOVED BOOK!

I'm a little obsessed with other people's book collections. It amazes me when I see color-coordinated shelves with spines arranged like a rainbow. I find I'm equally fascinated by the non-bookish items that find their way onto shelves too, like a nesting doll, a sample of fool's gold, or a framed photograph.

Are their non-bookish items on your bookshelf? I'd love to hear about them!

What am I reading now? I'm still reading Gigi Blume's The Hate Zone which I started two weeks ago. It's a fun romcom with snappy banter and the male main character's large family is hilarious and dynamic. I'd be finished by now if I wasn't so tired at night which is my prime reading time. These cool August nights feel like late September to me. It must be trying to trick me into early hibernation. I hope you're in the middle of a good book too!

SWEET & SWOONY TITLE

Can two adversaries reconcile and come together for town tradition’s sake? Or will stubborn wills and the sting of past heartbreaks keep them from discovering a potential love swarming right around them?

"This book is a sweet treat to read. The characters are easy to love, memorable and captivating." - Amazon review
