The calendar got away from me this month; I should have sent this out yesterday--OOPS!
I'll keep it short and sweet, promise!
It's timely because I'm sharing a little excerpt from Hearts and Homecomings, a scene I'm excited about. I started sharing parts of this book back in the spring when I thought I had my publication schedule settled for the year. Boy, was I wrong!
So, here's a fun introduction to Rory and Cash. Next week, I'll continue sharing about the book, one character at a time.
Read on:
Rory stepped inside The Shoppe of Curious Goods, blinking as her vision adjusted to the dim atmosphere of the antiques store. Rubbing her eyes with the back of her gloved hand, she wasn't paying attention to where her feet landed.
Until she tripped on a monstrous mound right in front of her, pinwheeled her arms, and fell forward…
…into a pair of arms.
Oof!
Her feet scrambled to find firm footing, her boots scrapping against the time-worn wood floor, while a pair of arms tightened around her shoulders.
"I've got you."
The voice was so deep and self-assured that she stopped scrambling for a few seconds. A stranger keeping her upright was one thing. It was quite a different situation for someone possessing that voice to come to her rescue. She had to match it to a face, see if it was as pleasant as it sounded.
