What if you had unlimited funds to spend on books? Would your reading habit change? Would you buy paperbacks or, gasp!⏤buy ALL hardbacks? Would you buy an ereader or upgrade the one you have?
I was pulling books together for October's Clean My Shelves contest the other day and I asked myself these same questions. If I could afford it, I think I'd buy hardbacks only because they wear better. I've tried reading on e-readers (I have a Nook and a Kindle), and as much as I like the idea of saving paper, I don't like the experience. There's something so satisfying about holding an actual book, be it one you own, borrow from the library, or get from a friend. Hands up if you agree! Even if you don't, I'd love to hear what you'd do with an unlimited budget for books.
The countdown is on for LOVE, LIES and SLEIGH RIDES⏤24 days to tick off on the calendar. You'll see some of your favorite characters from past Blueberry Point novels. Darcy and Sean Stetman, of course. They host the Holly Days Festival sponsor dinner at Blueberry Point Lodge which Fallon Gale invites Kade Behar to in a moment of weakness. And speaking of the Behars, Kade's family is the one everyone wants to celebrate with at the holidays⏤they're the sweetest people. Lucy Riggins from Buds 'N Blooms makes an appearance, and everyone's favorite auctioneer, Del Arbuckle runs the show at the Christmas tree auction.
If a meet-cute, courtesy of a roadside disaster, a former town bad boy, an heirloom sleigh, and a matchmaking boss sound intriguing, you'll love LOVE, LIES and SLEIGH RIDES. Pre-order your copy now!

I'm making my holiday reading list already since I see so many of my favorite authors releasing books this fall. Rachael Bloome just released Blessings on State Street and it looks like another winner! I just couldn't help myself; I ordered the paperback (sigh). The e-book is currently 99¢ but I'm not sure how long that will last. See the Sweet & Swoony Title Rec below to pick up your copy.

So, I'll end with a little story and a request. It's not directly related to my romances but it does have a little something to do with my early writing life.
In 2005, my husband and I took our three kids (then 12, 9 and 7) to Stehekin, WA for a family vacation. It was a remote spot, only accessible by ferry, sea plane or a very LONG hike (at the northern tip of Lake Chelan in the Cascade Range). We didn't have television or cell service, so our time was spent hiking, fishing, and playing outside during the day, and reading and card games at night. I started writing my first middle-grade novel that week, BINGO SUMMER (nine years later I published it myself when my opportunity to get it traditionally published dried up and self-publishing was taking off).
One day, the kids ventured up the hill in back of our cabin and spent hours building a fort from fallen branches. Fast forward, 11 years later. My daughter introduced her new husband to Stehekin and was surprised to find remnants of the fort still there.
Now she's entered a photo contest with her story to win a two-night stay at Stehekin Lodge. Voting ends tomorrow. If you're so inclined, you can read her story and give her a vote. She's hoping they can take our two grand girls there next summer. You can vote here (and thank you so much if you do).
