Happy Labor Day!

Ah, Labor Day. The mandated day that we celebrate and remember the contributions of the ordinary worker. Officially begun as a federal holiday in 1894, in times when both adults and children worked 12 or more hours a day every day in harsh conditions, its roots are usually traced back to the Haymarket Riot on May 1st, 1886. Thousands of workers from several trades took to the streets in protest for shorter work days and better conditions, which lasted until the 4th when a bomb was set off. Since then, there were several more incidents of strikes and riots and protests over the years, with gradual changes made, such as 8 hour work days, minimum pay, weekends off, child labor laws, etc.

Today, it is mostly a day off from work (though not for everybody), and the traditional end of summer and beginning of fall. There's no set of traditions or recognized ways to celebrate it, though you can't go wrong with BBQ and time with loved ones and shopping.

Yeah, you knew this was coming. Today and tomorrow, the 30th and 31st, you can get a free patriotic Flexi with orders of $40+. The design and size are selected randomly, so it'll be a surprise! Go pick up a few things to see what you get!

Have fun, and reach out to me at this email if you have any questions. Enjoy your weekend.
