Don’t Walk Through Life Alone

You can’t see everything from your own angle

Hey ,

What’s the point of having people in your life if you aren’t open to hearing their opinion on the things that matter?

A few weeks ago, I reached out to two friends about a challenge I was dealing with. I wasn’t looking for validation. I wasn’t looking for someone to say “you’ll be fine.” I just needed perspective. And the counsel they gave me helped me navigate that season with clarity.

Around that same period, I spoke with my friend Opeoluwa about an issue at work. He said something that shifted the way I saw the entire situation. Not long after that conversation, my partner at work resigned. If I didn’t have that conversation beforehand, I would have been frustrated and overwhelmed. But one good conversation removed pressure from my mind before the challenge even came.

This is why I never make decisions in isolation.

I still decide alone, but I don’t think alone.

I speak to people.

I ask questions.

I listen to their perspective.

Scripture says, “In the multitude of counsel, there is safety.” That’s not motivational talk. It’s a principle for life.

And here’s the part many people miss:

Counsel doesn’t only come from “people above you.”

Sometimes the clarity you need is with your friend.

Sometimes it’s with your sibling.

Sometimes it’s with someone younger than you.

Do not overlook people simply because you feel you’re on a higher level than they are.

Wisdom isn’t restricted by age or status.

The people in your life are not decorations.

They are not extras in your story.

They carry insight too, and sometimes that insight is exactly what you need.

So open your heart.

Ask questions.

Listen.

Seek counsel.

You’ll be surprised how much simpler life becomes when you stop trying to navigate everything alone.

Your Fave,

Darasimi
