Hey ,
A few nights ago, I was watching a movie and someone said something that stayed with me.
“There’s a reason your side mirror is smaller than your windshield because what’s behind you is less important than what’s in front of you.”
That line hit me deeply.
Because honestly, many of us spend more time staring at the side mirror than focusing on the windshield.
We replay mistakes.
We over-celebrate wins.
We hold on to pain.
We dwell on the good old days.
But the truth?
As long as it’s in the past, it’s of less importance than what’s ahead.
Whether it’s a failure or a win, a heartbreak or a breakthrough, it’s done.
You can learn from it, you can appreciate it, but you can’t live there.
The future doesn’t care that you failed yesterday.
The future also doesn’t reward you simply because you won yesterday.
Every new day demands a new you, a fresh effort, a clear focus, a forward look.
I’ve had my fair share of both highs and lows.
Some moments I wanted to hold on to forever.
Others, I wanted to erase completely.
But life doesn’t pause for either.
So I’ve learned to do two things:
- When something happens,I allow myself to feel it.
- Then I move on quickly because what’s ahead deserves my energy more than what’s behind.
Remember this: What you can still do is far greater than what you have done.
The things you will create, the growth you will experience, the people you will meet, they’re all ahead of you.
So let go of yesterday’s emotions, both good and bad.
Take the lessons. Keep the gratitude. But move.
The windshield is wider for a reason.
